FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is RetaBone?

RetaBone™ is the body-composition and metabolic-resilience research identity of Rethiamine™, Panacea Bio Chem’s proprietary research formulation: a 5 mg retatrutide lower layer and a 20 mg thiamine upper layer, co-lyophilised as a dual-layer Peptourbillon™ in Lyoprester SS™ and reconstituted by 0.5 mL P-EARLs™. It is not a second formula.

Does the RetaBone name mean the formulation strengthens bone?

No. The RetaBone name does not mean that the formulation has been demonstrated to increase bone density, prevent fractures or preserve skeletal muscle. These remain separate scientific questions requiring dedicated study.

Does retatrutide cause muscle loss?

Retatrutide body-composition research indicates that fat mass decreases substantially, while some lean-mass reduction may also occur. The proportion should not be exaggerated into 'muscle destruction,' because DXA lean mass also includes water and non-muscle lean tissue. The only published retatrutide DXA substudy reported the lean-mass share of weight loss as similar to other obesity treatments.

What does DXA lean mass actually measure?

DXA lean soft tissue is not synonymous with skeletal muscle — it includes water and other non-muscle lean tissues, which CT or MRI can distinguish. DXA lean-mass changes during weight loss should therefore not be read as direct measurements of gained or lost muscle.

Does thiamine (vitamin B1) prevent muscle loss or build bone?

No such claim is made anywhere on this site. Thiamine participates in energy-producing biochemical pathways and nervous-system function. RetaBone explores whether thiamine integration may contribute to a more nutritionally considered retatrutide formulation architecture — it does not claim that thiamine builds bone, prevents retatrutide-associated muscle loss, or replaces adequate protein intake and resistance training.

Has retatrutide been shown to deplete vitamin B1?

Direct retatrutide-induced biochemical depletion of thiamine has not been established. The research concern is indirect: potent appetite suppression, reduced dietary intake, gastrointestinal intolerance and rapid weight reduction may create nutritional vulnerability in some individuals.

What actually protects muscle during major weight loss?

Published research points to adequate protein intake (reviews cite 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day in at-risk groups), structured resistance exercise, hydration, clinical monitoring and attention to the rate of weight reduction. No formulation component on this site is presented as a substitute for a complete nutrition programme.

Is RetaBone an approved medicine?

No. Rethiamine™, Reta-B1™ and RetaBone™ describe a proprietary Panacea Bio Chem research formulation under development. Retatrutide is investigational. The formulation has not been approved as a medicinal product and has not been established to prevent or treat thiamine deficiency, muscle loss, bone loss or any disease.
